Parks & Recreation
There are four city parks in Sweeny. Each
park has distinct qualities and facilities.
The city does not currently have a recreation program.
However, recreational opportunities are abundant in Sweeny.
Baseball, basketball, tennis, volleyball, bicycling, running, and weight
training are all available in Sweeny.
Park Rules
The following rules apply at all city parks:
- Parks are closed from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
- Unlawful firearms are not permitted
- Do not use equipment improperly
- No bare feet - use proper footwear
- Adult supervision is requested
- No alcoholic beverages
- No glass containers
- No disturbing the peace. No loud music. No
profanity.
- The City is not responsible for accidents
- Violators may be prosecuted
Backyard Park
The Backyard Park is located behind City Hall on FM 524 in the
northwestern portion of the city. The park features:
- Drive-Thru Park (newly paved)
- Covered Pavilion
- Picnic Tables
- Barbeque Grills
- Restroom Facilities
- Volleyball Court (in sand)
- Children’s Playground
- RV Spaces & Connections (permit required from City Hall)
- Plenty of Shade from Oak & Pecan Trees
A.M. "Chick" Anderson Park
The Anderson Park is located in the southeastern portion of the city on
FM 524. The park features:

Martin Luther King Park
The Martin Luther King Park is located in the southwestern portion of
the city on Martin Luther King Street at the intersection with Fourth
Street. The park features:
- Children’s Playground
- Picnic Tables
- Small Basketball Court

Compost Park
The Compost Park is located in the southeastern portion of the city on
FM 524. The park features:
